Client:
A Major Property, Casualty and Liability Insurance
Provider
Summary
In 1997, one of the largest providers
of property, casualty and liability insurance
in the world, purchased a Mid-Atlantic-based
insurance
company.
Business Challenge
Immediately, this company was faced with
the problem of finding a service provider
that had a strong nationwide presence that
could assist with the integration of the
two company’s IT environments. This
work would involve visiting over 100 sites
across the country and require the service
provider to deploy Microsoft ® Windows®
95 to over 13,000 desktops. Travelling teams
of technicians were not an option due to
the cost associated with extensive travel.
For this reason, the service provider had
to be selected based on the ability to deploy
its own resources to the 100 locations without
having to subcontract any of the work.
How Allegis Group
Helped
As one of the client's most respected vendors,
we responded with a somewhat unique proposal.
The proposal centred on providing a programme
manager that would work with the Client's
project managers. This Programme Manager
would coordinate the use of our resources
across the country to perform the required
upgrades and conversions necessary to complete
the project. The client selected Allegis
Group because it would retain complete control
of the project, in addition to significantly
cutting expenses.
The client chose TEK Systems as its primary
partner for the project. The project was
a great success and has led to other opportunities
for Allegis Group. Allegis Group has completed
multiple other projects since this integration,
including: a Remedy® consulting opportunity,
several nationwide relocations and consolidation
projects, another integration, and a server
migration project (Novell®4.11 to
Microsoft
® Windows ® 2000) that involved
110 locations and over 130 servers. Today,
we rank as one of the Client's top service
providers.
